Burnout level of the administrator in local division of Ministry of National Education

This research is conducted to determine the burnout levels of the district national education headmasters and department directors who are working in 32 District National Education Directorates which are dependent on İstanbul Province National Education Directorate. It is also conducted to determine the effect of several variables on burnout whether they show a meaningfull difference or not. In the research, from the sub dimensions of the burnout, emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and lack of personal accomplishment are investigated. From the personal charecteristics; sex, marital status, age, level of education, lenght of service as teacher and as administartor, ability of communication, economic satisfaction, work hours, perception of professional sufficiency, the way of conducting the work and lenght of work in that Directorate, are investigated. The research is made by using general survey method. The range of the research is constitued by 167 district national education headmasters and department directors who are working in the 32 District National Education Directorates in İstanbul Province National Education Directorate. 152 administrators are reached and 114 administrators participated to the research by voluntarily. From the questionnaires, only 112 of them are taken into consideration and these are formed the sampling of the research. In order to obtain data, personal information questionnaire which is prepared by the researcher and Maslach Burnout Inventory which the validity and reliability tests are made by Ergin, are used in the research. In order to analyze the data obtained from the questionnaires, frequency, percentage, mean, standart deviation, one way anova, t test and Tukey HSD test techniques are used. The results obtained at the end of the research are as follow; 1- Administrators have low burnout level on emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment. 2- Sex, the way of conducting the work, weekly work hours and ability of communication with teachers factors do not constitute a meaningfull difference in the burnout levels of the administrators. 3- Marital status, work title and perception of professional sufficiency, degree of appreciation from superiors and degree of economic satisfaction factors constitue a meaningfull difference in the burnout levels of the administrators.
