Abstract (EN)
National conscience and nation are involved entities composed of many relevant ethnical, cultural, territorial, economical, and legal-political elements. Factors such as a historical land/country, or a homeland, a common community culture, rights and liabilities of every individual in a society, a common economic environment in which the individuals act independantly come together and form the national culture. Ali Ekrem Bolayır gave examples concerning national identity formation, especially in poems written in a plain language. This study consists of translations - from Ottoman Turkish into Modern Turkish - of Ali Ekrem Bolayır's poetry books named "Ordunun Defteri", "Vicdan Alevleri", "Zilâl-i İlhâm", "Ana Vatan", "Kaside-i Askeriyye", "Lisân-ı Osmâni"; and the thematisation of the poems in the mentioned books with regards to national identity.
