Abstract (EN)
In this study the nature of popular cultural elements in the novels of Halide Edip Adıvar, Reşat Nuri Güntekin and Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu which represent National Struggle Periods was examined. For this purpose, Halide Edip Adıvar's Ateşten Gömlek (1923), Kalp Ağrısı (1924) and Vurun Kahpeye (1923); Reşat Nuri Güntekin's Ateş Gecesi (1942), Damga (1924), Gizli El (1924) and Yeşil Gece (1928); Yakup Kadri Karaosmanoğlu's Ankara (1934), Kiralık Konak (1922), Sodom ve Gomore (1928) and Yaban (1932) were studied. In the study, firstly the method was emphasized and explained how the work was done. In the part of the theoratical framework and historical background of the study, firstly the Marxist Economy Political Approach was mentioned and in this context, popular culture debate was made. Then, the socio-cultural environment of the National Struggle Period was evaluated and focused on writer's lives, their understanding of the arts and the topics of the novels taken into consideration. The study was based on the view that popular culture is determinated with political and economic relations at the moment of production. In the evalution, it was concluded that in the National Struggle Period, popular culture had been shaped in the direction of the political and economic relations behind the moment which was produced and the period of National Struggle's popular culture's content features is similar to today's popular culture's features and that popular culture's functions are the same in both periods.
