Abstract (EN)

Enver Pasha, who played a significant role in the last years of the Ottoman Empire, engaged in both military and political activities. With the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Monarchy, Enver Pasha appeared on the stage of the history of the Ottoman Empire and maintained his importance for Anatolia until his death on August 4th, 1922. The policies and military operations he carried out in the Tripolitania War, the Balkan Wars, and the First World War were of great importance. Although Enver Pasha left the country immediately after the First World War, he did not give up his efforts for Anatolia and kept in touch continuously with the staff that carried out the National Struggle. In Germany, he was engaged in the shipment of money and weapons for the National Struggle. In Moscow, he asked the Bolshevik leaders for military support for the National Struggle. The Ankara Government considered that Enver Pasha's activities were dangerous for its own legitimacy. It was tried to prevent Enver Pasha and Unionist leaders, especially Mustafa Kemal Pasha, from entering Turkey. After Enver Pasha was prevented from entering Turkey, he went to Turkestan. He joined the Basmachians who fought for their independence against Bolshevik Russia in Turkestan and died in a battle with Bolshevik Russian soldiers on August 4th, 1922.
