Minas Çera and his role in Armenian question

As a result of the nationalism movement spread with the French Revolution, many revolts occurred in the Ottoman Empire with the aim of independence. Among the non-Muslim minorities who caused these revolts were the Armenian nation. As a result of the independence activities carried out by both the patriarchate and the Armenian intellectuals and committees, this issue was carried to the great states of the period when the Ottoman Armenians failed to succeed.In the name for establishment of the independent Armenia, one of the names operating was Minas Çeraz, an Armenian intellectual, teacher and writer. In this study titled "Minas Çeraz and his Role in the Armenian Issue", the activities carried out by Minas Çeraz on behalf of the Armenian Issue under the patronage of the Patriarchate and to introduce the issue to Europe were tried to be given. Besides these, in the light of the fact that Çeraz was a teacher and writer, it was tried to touch on these aspects of him as he was known as a famous intellectual of his period. Minas Çeraz, born in 1852, turned towards teaching and literary activities after completed his education. In this way, Çeraz, who started to become famous, became a member of the Constantinople Education Council and the Armenian National Council. Çeraz, whose star shines here, was brought to the General Secretariat of the Patriarchate in 1878 and thus, he carried out various activities both in the Ottoman Empire and in Europe in the name of the Armenian issue, to which he dedicated the rest of his life. Çeraz, who devoting about fifty years of his life to the success of the Armenian issue, started to be recognized as "Professor Çeraz" in Europe in 1888. Thus, he became a respected figure both by the public and by European politicians and established various contacts. The life and activities of Çeraz, which has become one of the most active names on behalf of the Armenian issue, will be examined in the light of archive documents, foreign press, works and articles by various authors.
