Abstract (EN)
In this research, what is emphasised is that data regarding traditions are crucial in creating a unique artistic narrative. The expression of miniature, a traditional genre of painting, and the analysis of space-oriented awareness of this artistic expression explain the ideological perception peculiar to the East. From the 20th century onwards, the fact that the Western artistic narrative had an impact on several perceptions in the Eastern world caused many of our perceptions to change or to be simply ignored. In this light, it was observed that, instead of creating a unique narrative, this interaction brought about artistic works that were based on the Western narrative. With this point of view in mind, this work studies miniature art which constitutes a cultural data, and the perception of space in miniature. Thus, the modern artistic mentality will be re-handled under circumstances peculiar to our culture. Erol Akyavaş, who especially uses this mentality in his works, is very important for our study. Although he studied in a Western country, Akyavaş bases his works on traditional aspects. This work will touch upon the historical process of the miniature craft and various space perceptions that came about during this process. Besides, Western an Eastern perceptions of the nature will be canvassed, as well as the empathy and abstraction of Worringer, who tries to explain the Westerns narrative in comparison with the Eastern narrative. The fact that Worringer mostly studied the Ottoman miniature craft necessitated an in-depth study of the Ottoman miniature craft and its spatial analysis. This work will touch upon the socio-philosophical perceptions in the artistic environment during the era of Erol Yavaş and canvass the place of miniature spatial analyses in his paintings. Hence, the goal is to re-study the theoretical knowledge regarding whether data belonging to traditions has an importance for ?uniqueness?.Key Words: Miniature, Space, Perception, Erol Akyavaş, Ottoman Miniature
