The adaptation of Humor Styley Questionnaire into Turkish language

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study was to adapt a multi-dimensional questionnaire (Humor Styles Questionnaire), which assesses four dimensions relating to individual differences in uses of humor, into Turkish. Through the adaptation process the original form was translated into Turkish, reviewed by the English language experts and translated back into English. Studies were conducted to test construct validity, criterion- related validity, test re-test reliabilities and internal consistency. Studies were conducted on a total sample consisted of 1363 university students attending different faculties of Çukurova University. The initial study was conducted with a sample of 530 students and the second study on a sample of 495 students respectively. The criterion-related validity was examined in a study using two separate samples consisting of 137 and 138 students and The test re-test reliabilities were computed using a data from a sample of 63 students who were administered the experimental form on two occasions 15 days apart. Results of the study replicated the four-factor structure and indicated that all the 32 items had their first loading to their corresponding factor as in the English original scale.
