Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to develop a mobile measurement system and to analyze the usability of the system. Mobile measurement system comprises of three parts such as; a mobile application, a web site and a database. Mobile application has been designed for the iOS operating system by using Xcode integrated development environment and Swift programming language. In the mobile application there exists two separate modules both for the lecturers and for the students. A web site is designed in order to maintain the treatment of the mobile measurement system, to increase it's practicality, and to introduce it. In this web site, lecturers are able to use math formulas while adding questions via a formula editor. In the light of the study aim, a study group has been constituted with twelve students who has been registered for the Mathematics II lesson in the first grade of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies undergraduate programme in Faculty of Education, Ege University and two lecturers who has been employed in the Faculty of Education. In addition to these participants, three lecturers from the department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies performed in the process of heuristic evaluation as an expert. Research method has been chosen as formative usability analysis and usability of the mobile measurement has been evaluated. The usability of the system is put to evaluation in its levels of efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction. The efficiency of the mobile evaluation system is explained by the proportions of the completion of the tasks; while its effectiveness is explained by the average durations of the completion of tasks, and its level of satisfaction is explained by the level of meeting participants' needs and their requests for using the mobile measuring system. The designed system has been evaluated both in the process of testing and analyzing. In the process of testing, a heuristic usability analysis has been applied with three lecturers who are experts in the field of usability. Making revision with the recommendations of the experts, the research passed to the analysis phase. In the phase of analysis, task analysis technique has been applied with lecturers and students. In the stage of task analysis, metrics of tasks that were given to the participants has been recorded via web based task tracking tool. Moreover, as a part of task analysis technique an interview has been made with the participants. During the interview, datas about the satisfaction of participants and their views about the system has been gathered. Analysis results of obtained data that has been done with multiple data gathering tools indicated that usability of the mobile measurement system is provided in the light of corresponding efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction.
