Current approaches in fashion illustration and a suggestion

The illustration is, in general, the name given to the illustrations for explaining and describing a theme. The field of illustration has continued to evolve by separating to various branches since the industrial revolution. Illustration, made with traditional techniques up to 1980s, also became feasible with the help of digital drawing programs on the computer later on. The concepts of fashion and illustration have influenced many areas in the past and today. These two concepts, combined in the lower theme, constitute the field of fashion illustration and have been applied (implemented) by various drawing techniques. Fashion illustrations except for the purposes such as definition, promotion, which were used in the past, evolve toward an artistic focus today. Following this evolution, current digital techniques moved in. As a result of the era we are in, digital technology also influences the field of fashion illustrations and takes place in fashion shows with mixed techniques. Transition of fashion illustrations to new courses from where they belong, can be observed in current approaches of fashion illustrations. In this study, a proposal has been developed in addition to current approaches. Within the proposal, a critical perspective is presented to the human body in the fashion sector. So, it is desired to be shown that fashion shows which turned into performance art can be made utilizing the fashion illustrations. In the presented proposal for the work, the designs drawn by the author turned into a different fashion show technique, illustrating with digital techniques. With this study, it is argued that there might be different approaches and suggestions and the thesis is supported by the related literature.
