Abstract (EN)
Postmodern thought, which emerged to reject modernism by pointing to the negativities of the understanding of truth, could not save itself from causing negativities similar to modernism as a result of its reactive feature and became the focus of criticism. The aim of this study is to base the claim that postmodernism cannot represent a final thought on the basis of its reactive feature towards modernism. In addition, it is aimed to prove the necessity of a synthesis in which the negativities of modernism and postmodernism are excluded and to point out some possibilities for this synthesis. In line with these aims and objectives; In this thesis, a conceptual model consisting of four stages has been developed, showing the relationship between modern and postmorn thoughts: similarity, reactivity, requiring each other, and synthesis. In order to determine the first stage, the phenomenon of similarity, modern and postmodern understandings of truth were compared. Based on the data obtained on similarity, other stages were passed through logical inference. As a result, the idea of the necessity of a synthesis between modern and postmodern thoughts has been reached. It is expected that our study will contribute to the formation of a discussion ground where constructive suggestions are presented instead of the harsh criticisms of modern and postmodern thinkers in contemporary philosophy.
