Abstract (EN)

Image-form-construction dialectic in painting has been matter analyzedin-depth in the history of art. Parallel to the concept of ?form? as we use in dailyterminology, the definition of form within the perspective of art is as follows: form isthe reality part of the work perceived by our senses as a consequence of thejudgmental process of our mind, in other words, it is the sensory form that is atstake. The part of art that we perceive and interpret is the form where theauthenticity and creativity is turned into concrete and reality. In its literal meaning, form is defined as the order of the parts and shapes, or outer appearance. Form iscomprised of the order of parts and outer appearance thereof. The artist?s way ofperceiving, judging, interpreting and reflecting reality is the output of four cognitiveprocesses. It is important to take a deep analysis into trends of art that have been shapedby the rational philosophy of modern art and expressionist trends of art which haveemerged as a consequence of criticism of Modernism in order to be able to graspthe general understanding of form in modern art.As for the form, it is also important to note that construction throughmeaningful composition of parts is also in question. Although modern trends of artpossess different styles, purposes, philosophies and understandings, they alsoshare commonalities in terms of plastic values. Besides different understanding ofform brought by differences in art trend thoughts, they also share a commonground with regard to constructive values. Together with the rationalist andexperimental art thought put forth by modernism, modern trends of art have startedto base their theories on sound foundations along with the scientific data. In suchtrends, a perfectionist, scientific and systematic way of construction is observed. On the other hand, in the Modern Art Trends, shaped by emotional vibrations andspiritual automatism, it is not possible to mention such common theory in terms ofpart-whole relation. The reason for this fact is that artists are shaped by theiremotional interactions in the shape of construction just as the choice of forms andmaterials that make up the real layer. For this reason, a common theory ofconstruction is not valid for the expressionist trends. A thorough analysis of themutual interaction of part and whole relation would be a right way to adopt in orderto understand the form and part-whole relation in Modern Art.
