Abstract (EN)
The use of herbal products for therapeutic purposes dates back a thousand years. The use of herbal products, which are still continuing today, has increased especially in recent years. Although herbal treatment gives positive results, unconscious use of these products may cause unwanted results. Especially the fact that these products can be easily reached almost everywhere increases the use of herbal products. People with chronic diseases often use these products without consulting their doctor or pharmacist. However, the interaction of medications regularly used by chronic patients with herbal products can have dangerous consequences. For this reason, the aim of this study was to measure the level of awareness of the use of medicinal plants in individuals with chronic diseases. For this purpose, 115 chronic patients who applied to pharmacies in Muğla were surveyed. As a result of the results of these surveys, it was found that educational status and age variables were not statistically significant factors in the use of herbal products. It was also understood that doctors and patients should be aware of the use of herbal products.
