Abstract (EN)

Multiple sclerosis ( MS ) is an inflammatory, demyelinating and degenerative disease of central nervous system which can be progressive or relapsing. Environmental factors and autoimmune response are important factors that can be blamed for pathogenesis of the disease on the basis of genetic predisposition. Encountering T helper (Th) cells which produce Interleukin 17 (IL-17) in the diseased tissues of patients with MS has revealed the opinion that this cell group has a part with T-helper 1 (Th1) in the development of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. Interleukin 23 ( IL-23 ) is a cytokine which provides the stabilization of T helper 17 (Th17) cells. In our study; we planned to compare the measured serum IL-17 and IL-23 levels between the control group and RR-MS patients in attack and remission periods. The aim of this study was to contribute to the pathogenesis of MS patients in terms of follow-up and new therapeutic approaches.
