Muvakkit Mustafa b. Ali Rûmî Teshîlü'l-Mîkât fî İlmi'n-Evkât (introduction, analysis, text and grammatical index)

This study includes introduction, analysis, text and grammatical index of a literary work, Teshîlüʼl-Mîkât fî İlmiʼn-Evkât, which was written by Mustafa b. Ali. In the introduction section, the subject, purpose, method, life and works of the author are given. In this work, there is information about the definition of astronomy, astronomy in Islam, Turks and Ottomans, time-keeping house in Ottoman period, and information about the facilitation of the time. The work which is the subject of the study is registered at the Ankara National Library with an archieve number of 06 Hk 1655 and was compiled as twenty five chapter The work was written in 1529 in Turkish on a paper with a lion watermark. The text has 48 pages and in each page, there are 11 lines except fort he first and last pages. Dimensions of the work is 210x130-160x90 mm. The work gives information about the charachteristics of the astronomical instrument, the position of the sun, day-night halves, the direction of the sun, the depth of the sea and rivers and the width of the wells. In the text section, the work which is the subject of the study was translated. The page and line numbers of the examined text are shown and the parts transferred to the text are compared. In the Grammatical Index section, a dictionary section is created by introducing the word framework of the subject.In the conclusion section, the emphasis was placed on the important points and the facsimile was added to the end of the study. The aim of this work is to introduce this text to the scientific world, which includes many scientific fields such as astronomy, mathematics, trigonometry, geometry and global trigonometry and to reveal the language characteristics of a scientific work of the Old Anatolian Turkish period.
