Abstract (EN)

This study aims to investigate polyphonic overtone singing technique by focusing on its place, function, and practices in European contemporary music scene. It is possible to describe the alienation of the modern individual as longing (Sehnsucht). The contemporary musician wants to keep alive music with its magic. With principles based on overcoming the difficulty of audibility of the overtones, polyphonic overtone singing creates ''fascination'' that might consider as a contribution from nature to Avant-garde. The study has established with in-depth interviews, observation-participant observation, and the theoretical framework by grassroots globalization, globalization from below, easternization, return to nature, and methodological individualism.
