Abstract (EN)

In this study, three new Schiff bases 2-[(E)-{[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]imino}methyl]-6-methoxyphenol (L1H), 2-[(E)-{[4-(4-aminophenoxy)phenyl]imino}methyl]-6-ethoxyphenol (L2H), 2-[(E)-{[4-(4-aminobenzyl)phenyl]imino}methyl]-6-ethoxyphenol (L3H) were synthesized by the reactions of 3-methoxysalicylaldehyde, 3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde with 4,4?-diaminodiphenylether and, 3-ethoxysalicylaldehyde with 4,4?-diaminodiphenylmethan. Using these ligands, 9 different complexes of Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) in acetate forms were synthesized. The structures of ligands and complexes obtained were identified using Elemental Analysis, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, UV-Vis, Magnetic Susceptibility and Thermogravimetric Analysis as techniques. All of the Schiff bases were found to be bidentate ligands involving the imino nitrogen and carboxyl oxygen atoms in the complexes and metal to ligand ratio were found to be 1:1 Co(II), Zn(II) complexes and 2:1 Cu(II) complex. In addition, there are one acetate in Co(II), Zn(II) complexes and three acetate in Cu(II).Keywords: Schiff bases, imine compounds, transition metals, transition metal complexes
