Abstract (EN)
Interest on the renewable energy sources is gradually gaining importance due to the probable consumption of the fossil fuels in the near future and to the waste gases that emit into the environment. The fatty acid methyl esters, one of the renewable energy sources (biodiesel), where synhthesized through the transesterification reaction. In this study, KF/hydroxylapatite (HAp) catalysts were prepared in different ratios and the fatty acid methyl esters were obtained from the reaction of the canola oil with methanol. In addition, by changing some parameters like the alcohol/oil ratio, various alcohols, amount of catalysts, reusability of the catalysts, and the period of the reaction were changed and the optimum conditions of the transesterification reaction were determined. Structure of the fatty acid methyl esters obtained was characterized by the ATR- IR and 1H- NMR spectroscopy. Science Code : 201.1.112 Key Words : Transesterification, Catalyst, Hydroxyapatite
