Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, environmental pollution is increasing in parallel with the increase of industrial technology. Water pollution, which is one of the most important sources of life, is also included in this environmental pollution. It is important to remove the dyestuffs that are present in the water and have the pollutant properties. The photocatalytic method is preferred because it is faster and more practical in eliminating the dyes present in water. Semiconductor catalysts are used in the photocatalytic degradation of the luminescent materials. In the presence of UV lamps, semiconductor catalysts are used. In this study, photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue with nano-sized CdZnS, CdZnNiS, CdZnFeS, CdZnMnS and CdZnCoS catalysts in UV-C lamp medium was investigated. The best percentage fractions were determined in the experiments of CdZnS, CdZnNiS, CdZnFeS, CdZnMnS and CdZnCoS catalysts and the most effective catalyst formulas were confirmed as Cd0.98Zn0.02S, Cd0.98Zn0.02Ni0.005S, Cd0.98Zn0.02Fe0.01S, Cd0.98Zn0.02Mn0.01S ve Cd0.98Zn0.02Co0.001S. The characterization of the synthesized catalysts was carried out with SEM, EDX, XRD, BET Surface Area, FT-IR, UV devices. The effect of parameters such as time, dye initial concentration and catalyst amount, on photocatalytic degradation experiments of methylene mixtures was investigated. The photocatalytic degradation kinetics of the methylene blue was found as pseudo- second order kinetics for all catalysts.
