Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTAs first step in this study, some statistical theories of nematic liquid crystals have beenconsidered according to developing of this matter. Then, a cluster variation theory for the Maier-Saupe model of the nematic-isotropic phase transition is, for the first time, generalized by usingnonextensive formalism to examine the nematic-isotropic phase transition. This q-dependentformalism simplifies the cluster variation calculations compared with three- and four-particlecluster variation methods. The long range order parameter is investigated and the effect of thepossible generilazition is shown for some values of the entropic index. Also the critical value ofthe long range order parameter at the nematic-isotropic transition temperature vs. the entropicindex is reported. Keywords: Tsallis thermostatistics, cluster variation theory, nematic-isotropic transition.
