Abstract (EN)

Throughout history, human beings have wondered how the languages spoken in the world emerged, how the were in the beginning, what kind of stages they have reached today, and scientists have put forward various theories on this subject. Nostratic language theory is one of the theories that has attracted attention recently and has been scientifically established. "Nostratic theory" or "Nostratic language theory" is a language theory that accepts that all languages in the world originate from one language, thus forming a large family. At this present stage, Altaic languages, Kartvelian languages, Indo-European languages, Uralic languages, Hami-Semitic languages and Dravidian languages are evaluated within the Nostratic language theory. According to the theory, all these languages emerged from one root language. The process leading to the Nostratic theory started with comparative language studies, and as the comparison languages expanded over time, the theory reached the point it has reached today. The most important issue that concerns us is that the Altaic languages, including the Turkish language, are also included in the theory. Studies on Nostratic theory, which was not taken seriously in the beginning but accepted by many scientists today, are quite advanced in the Western world, especially in Russia and the USA, and continue to depolop. On the other hand, studies on the subject in Turkey are extremely limited. In the respect, our study aims to introduce the subject to the Turkish scientific world and draw attention to the theory.
