Abstract (EN)

Compulsory exchange brings along radical changes in the life of immigrants. In the distribution processes after the Turkish-Greek population exchange serious discontentments of immigrants appeared. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immigrants by means of their properties in their home countries. The content of the study is the properties of immigrants who came from Crete to Selçuk(Şirince). The study consists of three parts. In the first part of the thesis, the information about the history of Crete and Selçuk is given. In the second part, the exchange politics throughout the process is mentioned. In the third part, there is information about the features of Clearence Documents that indicate the properties of immigrants and their transcriptions in the Ottoman Turkish. In this study the Clearence Documents allowed from the office of Republic Archieves of Prime Ministry are used as a basic source. The other references include some archieve documents, newspapers, books, articles and academic thesis. In the light of the Clearence Documents we have had an idea about the economic and social positions of immigrants. The Clearence Documents, which provide important information, are going to be used more in future studies. Ke ywords: Crete, Exchange, Selçuk, Şirince, Clearence Documents.
