Abstract (EN)

The continuing increase in nuclear armament and the lack of clear data on the number of weapons show that the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty is not fully effective. The NPT does not directly prohibit the use of nuclear weapons. In addition, according to the International Court of Justice, which made a recommendation regarding the legality of the use of these weapons; held that the use of nuclear weapons may not constitute a violation of international law. The forbidden side of nuclear weapons is due to the proliferation of these weapons. Because a multilateral treaty banning the use of nuclear weapons has not been formed yet. The point to be reached regarding nuclear weapons was to reduce the number of such weapons and to spread nuclear weapons, rather than prohibiting the production and use of such weapons. In addition, apart from the use of nuclear weapons, there is no international law document that shows that these weapons are against international law for those who produce these weapons. After the nuclear disasters in the past, the restriction of the use of nuclear weapons and the review of the safe working conditions of nuclear power plants have brought up the agenda. As it is known, with the development of technology, the increase in energy demand and the fact that a large part of energy production originates from fossil fuels, human beings have had to struggle with global climate changes. However, accidents in nuclear power plants in the past and the use of plutonium found in waste fuels in nuclear weapon heads paved the way for the formation of a prejudice for this type of energy. Radioactive wastes can be produced as a by-product that can be used in the defense industry from nuclear power plants, research in institutes, medical applications and supplementary fuel cycles. In addition, because of the particle or wave-type radiation to be emitted by radioactive wastes with a certain half-life, such wastes cannot be evaluated in the normal waste class and therefore poses a nuclear threat to both the environment and human health. Within the scope of this study, possible nuclear disasters were considered, and the suggestions presented on what should be done through world examples.
