Abstract (EN)

Aim: In order to compare the subtypes of the disease in patients diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder; In the study on the evaluation of the morphometric differences between different gray matter structures by taking brain MR images and using the brain parceling method; It is aimed to evaluate different subtypes of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder better, to make progress in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease and to apply it in practice. Material and Method: The population of the study consisted of patients who applied to the Psychiatry outpatient clinic of Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital and diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder. The control group was formed from volunteers who did not have any psychiatric diagnosis or treatment, and who did not have a neuropsychiatric or endocrinology disease that would directly or indirectly impair central nervous system functions. A sample of 35 consecutive patients who met the inclusion criteria was created by performing a SCID diagnostic interview. Operations applied to the sample and control group; SCID diagnostic evaluation interview, Sociodemographic and clinical evaluation form, Yale-Brown obsession and compulsion scale and checklist and Hamilton depression rating scale. MRI procedures were then performed. Then, MR image analysis was performed with SPM8, a MATLAB-based program. First, brain volumes of 35 patients and 35 control volunteers were compared with training matched (regardless of age and gender). Secondly, patients and controls were grouped according to their gender and comparisons were made based on education, age and gender matching. Third, male and female patient and control brain volumes were examined separately, matched for education and age. Results: As a result of the study, significant volumetric differences were found in different parts of the brain in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder compared to healthy individuals. Conclusion: Volumetric changes were detected in different regions of the brain gray matter (substantia grisea).
