Relationship between the perception of children's rights and academic success of students (Beyoğlu district of İstanbul sample)

In this survey, the relationship between the perception of children?s rights and academic success of general and vocational high school students is researched. It is aimed to determine statistically at .05 level, if there is a differentiation in the student?s perception of children?s rights according to sub-dimensions of children?s rights; personal rights, defense rights, social rights, education rights and health rights and also aimed to determine the relationship between sub-dimensions of children?s rights and academic success of students.Data collection tool of the research has two parts. First part is Personal Information Form and second part is Children?s Rights Quastionnaire developed by researcher. The data of research have been collected from the quastionnaires delivered to a total of 840 students who are at the government general and vocational high schools in Beyoğlu region of city İstanbul during the 2007-2008 academic year.At the end of the research, according to students own perceptions, their children?s rights have been found both in general and in the sub levels, except personal rights are ?usually? level, but personal rights have been found ?always? level. A .05 level difference has been found between children?s rights levels of students and the following variables: school type, gender, father and mother education levels. It is founded that there is a pozitively directed relation between all sub-levels of children?s rights.In addition to this, statistically at .05 level, the pozitively directed relationship between personal and defense rights and grade point average, and negatively directed relationship between personal and and defense rights and unsuccessful lessons are found.
