Abstract (EN)

In this study, it is aimed to investigate the effect of optimism and pessimism personality traits on the communicationskills of the studentsreceivingtourismeducation and to examinethem in terms of variousvariables. Based on the quantitativemethods, this researchwasfulfilledover 304 studentswhowerebeingeducating at Gaziantep University Tourism and Hotel Management Vocational School in the fallsemester of 2018-2019 AcademicYear. In order to replicate the aforementionedresearh, samequestionnairewasconducted this time on 383 students in the fallsemester of 2014-2015 AcademicYear, but the researchcould not be completedforvariousreasons. In order to be able to make a comparisonbyyears, these 383 questionnaireswerealsoanalyzed. Standarddeviation and arithmeticmeanvalueswerecalculatedconsidering the normal distribution of both data setsbelongingdifferenttimelines. Thenafter, frequency, percentage, "Independent-Samples T Test", "One-WayAnova", "Mann-Whitney U Test", "Kruskal-Wallis H Test", Spearman and Pearson correlationanalysiswereapplied. According to the results of the study, nosignificiancedifferencewerereachedbetweentwoperiodsfor the personality traits and defininingcharacteristics of sampleconcerninggender, type of education, parentealeducationlevel, the region of heritage. On the otherhand, for the mother'seducationlevelonly, it wasfoundthattherewas a statisticallysignificantdifferencetoward 2014-2015 session. A statisticallysignificantdifferencebetweenvariables of communicationskills and categoricalfactorssuch as the type of education, the regionresidenceforonly 2014-2015 Academicsession. Finally, a lowlevelwithsignificancerelationwas optimism and pessimism personality traits and communicationskills.
