Investigating the locus of control of candidate teachers concerning some variables

03. Summary The aim of this study was to examine the locus of control of the candidate teachers. In addition to this aim, effects of some variables such as sex, branche, academic success, socio economic level, settlements living in were also investigated. Research group consisted of 240 volunteer seniors of Fatih Faculty of Education. 10 male and 10 female seniors who were studying at 12 different departmets of faculty selected randomly. With the aim of collecting data, Internal-External Locus of Control Scale designed by Rotter and an Information Form designed by researcher were administered to all seniors. Percentile norm, Variance Analysis, t-test were used for statistical analysis of data. Research findings showed that, 14 percent of seniors were internal controlled, and 1 1 percent of seniors were external countrolled, and 35 percent of seniors were more inclined to internal locus of control, and 40 percent of seniors were more inclined to external locus of control. It was found statistically significant difference in the favour of male seniors. There were no significant differences between the groups according to the other variables. Some spesific and general suggestions were made concerning the results of this study. vm
