Abstract (EN)

This research aimed to determine the relationship between the workplace friendship perception level and burnout levels of teachers working in public secondary schools. The population of the research consists of 3840 teachers working in public secondary schools in Diyarbakır city center in the 2022-2023 academic year, and the sample consists of 450 teachers selected from the universe by random method. The data of the research were used: the Workplace Friendship Scale, developed by Neilsen, Jex, and Adams (2000) and adapted into Turkish by Kıral (2016), and the Maslach Burnout Inventory, developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) and adapted into Turkish by Çam (1991). The Workplace Friendship Scale is 2 dimensions and consists of 10 items. Maslach Burnout Inventory consists of 3 dimensions and 22 items. The data obtained in the research were analyzed using the SPSS statistical package program. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics, t-Test , ANOVA Test for comparisons, Tukey Test to determine which groups the difference is between, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient Analysis to determine the level of relationship between variables were used. The .05 significance level was taken as basis in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the research; It was determined that teachers' burnout was low and medium, and their perception of workplace friendship was high. It was observed that teachers' workplace friendship perception levels did not differ according to gender, education level, seniority in the profession, marital status and school size. It was concluded that the burnout levels of the teachers included in the study did not differ according to gender, education level, seniority in the profession and marital status. It was revealed that the burnout perception level showed a statistically significant difference according to the size of the school. According to the correlation results, it was found that there was a low and significant negative relationship between the burnout and workplace friendship perception levels of the teachers participating in the research. It has been revealed that an increase in teachers' workplace friendship perception level results in a decrease in their burnout level, while a decrease in their workplace friendship perception level increases their burnout level. Key Words: Workplace Friendship, Burnout, Secondary School Teachers.
