The effect of teachers' professional idealism and levels of organizational socialization on organizational adaptation

Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to examine the effects of teachers' professional idealism levels and organizational socialization levels on organizational adaptation. In this direction, it is another important aim of the research whether some demographic variables collected through the personal information form create a significant difference in the perceptions of teachers about their professional idealism levels, organizational socialization levels and organizational adjustment levels. The sample of the study was determined by simple random sampling method. The sample consists of 488 teachers working in public schools in the city center of Düzce. Relational screening method was used in the research. The data of the research were collected by online method and 4 different scales were used. "Personal Information Form" to collect demographic and professional information of teachers, "Idealistic Teacher Scale" developed by Can, Yıldırım, Bedir and Atalmış (2019), "Organizational socialization scale" developed by Erdoğan and Dönmez (2019), and Piasentin (2007) The "Organizational Adjusment Scale", which was created by Uçan (2019) inspired by the developed scale, are the scales used in the research. It has been determined that the professional idealism, organizational socialization and organizational adaptation levels of the teachers are all high above the middle point. At the same time, when the differences between teachers' demographic and professional knowledge variables are examined, in organizational socialization levels, there were significant differences in the variables of gender, union membership status, working time at school, and in organizational adjustment levels, significant differences were found in the variables of working time at school, the number of teachers in their school, and the socioeconomic level of the school's environment. In the findings of the correlation test, moderately significant differences were found between teachers' professional idealism levels and organizational socialization levels, between professional idealism levels and organizational socialization levels, and between organizational socialization levels and organizational adjustment levels. It was found that the variables of professional idealism and organizational socialization were significant predictors of the organizational adjustment variable.
