Abstract (EN)
Usage of waste vehicle tires, which increase more every year, as additive material in bituminous hot mixtures is one of the attempts, which reduce environmental concerns in several countries. While ground vehicle tire modification enhances mechanical properties of the mixtures without causing cost increases as seen in polymer modification, it reduces workability property by causing increased viscosity. Therefore, warm mixture additives, which can provide better compaction and economy by enhancing workability properties comes into question recently. In this study, the effects of ground vehicle tire modification, which is more economical instead polymer modification and FT-wax, which is a warm mixture additive on properties of bitumen and stone-mastic-asphalt mixture were investigated. Increasing performance economically with vehicle tire modification, contributing to this performance and economy by enhancing workability properties with FT-wax modification is being aimed. In the study, the effects of using ground vehicle tire and FT-wax together and separately in bitumen and stone-mastic-asphalt mixtures were investigated. Softening point, penetration, rotational viscosity, bending beam and dynamic shear rheometer experiments were applied to pure and modified bitumen whereas Marshall Stability and flow, indirect tensile stiffness modulus, indirect tensile fatigue, experiments were applied to the stone-mastic-asphalt mixtures which have been produced by modified bitumen. In conclusion, it was determined that paraffin used with CR could contribute to performance and paraffin was in accordance with the CR in terms of mechanical properties and also it could be an alternative to styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) modification.
