A research on interior quality in school buildings

The subject of this study is to define the criteria that determine the comfort conditions of school buildings and to evaluate the indoor quality of this school through the measurements made in a secondary school building. This thesis study consists of five chapters and annexes. In Chapter 1, the importance of physical environment conditions in school buildings for education and training is explained. By defining the problem of the study, the purpose, scope and methodology are explained. In Chapter 2, the historical development of interior quality, indoor environmental quality parameters are described in the relevant standards for school buildings Turkey and indoor environmental quality. In Chapter 3, the location of the secondary school building, where the field study is conducted, is examined in terms of the urban location, environmental characteristics, indoor quality comfort parameters of the six classrooms measured in this school building, ground floor, first floor and second floor. Measurement tools and methods and measurement program are mentioned. Istanbul, where the field study was carried out in Chapter 4. In the classrooms of Refik Saydam Secondary School, the interior space quality parameters were measured and evaluated. In Chapter 5, measurement results, air quality, classroom comfort conditions are examined in terms of auditory, visual and thermal aspects. The findings were evaluated with the standards and suggestions were made for improvement. In the Appendix section, tables and graphs representing the results of the measured parameters, Istanbul Dr. Permission documents obtained for making measurements at Refik Saydam Secondary School are included.
