Abstract (EN)

It was planned to determine the effect of applying the Fluency Shaping Technique and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methods; individually and together on school-age stuttering children on the level of stuttering violence, anxiety and quality of life. 45 children diagnosed with stuttering between the ages of 7 and 12 were included in our study and examined in three groups. Group-1 Fluency Shaping Technique, Group-2 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Group-3 received individual therapy using both techniques together. Participants were evaluated using the personal information form, stuttering severity assessment, stuttering severity assessment table, The Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS), KidKINDL General Purpose Health-Related Quality of Life Scale for Children (KidKINDL) tools. Assessment; was carried out with the preliminary test, final test and the follow-up test. It was found that 60% of participants had language and/or speech problems with their relatives or family, while 40% did not. Maternal and paternal education levels did not significant difference in the preliminary and final test results of the RCADS and KidKINDL scales (p>0.05). In Group-1 and Group-3, there was a significant difference in the percentage of stuttering severity in the results of the preliminary test, final test and follow-up test (p<0.05), while in Group-2 there was no significant difference (p>0.05). In all three groups, significant differences were obtained in the results of pre-test, final test and follow-up test in the child and family form of the RCADS scale (p<0.05). In Group-2 and Group-3, there were significant differences in pre-test, final test and follow-up test in KidKINDL child form (p<0.05), while there were no differences in Group-1 (p>0.05). In all three groups, there were no significant differences in the pre-test, final test, and follow-up test in the KidKINDL family form (p>0.05). The combination of the two techniques contributed positively to the parameters of anxiety, quality of life and the level of stuttering violence.
