The determination of the knowledge level in nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation of the school canteen staff

This research was executed to determine the level of knowledge in nutrition, hygiene and sanitation of school canteen staff. The research includes 221 staff who work at school canteens in Uşak. The model of scan was used in this research. This research was executed during 2007 and 2008.Datas were attained with the questionaires and each staff?s level of knowledge about hygine, nutrition and sanitation was evaluated . Gathered information was evaluated by using the methods of frequence, percentage, variance analyse, ki-square, tukey test statistical analyse.According to the research, % 58.3 of the staff who were included in this research are secondary-school-graduates. All of the staff in the research got their health examination doe before they started to work and % 99.1 of them had the vocational education. % 99.5 of the staff have uniforms. Only % 8.1 of them do not go to work when they suffer from diarrhed or get flu.It was determined that the staff who work in school canteens are not well-educated. The average of the staffs?s knowledge level about nutrition s normal. There is no much difference betveen their education and their knowledge level in nutrition. However, an important difference according to their positions in canteens was determined and this situation i in staff?s favor.According to their work time, there is an important difference which is in favor of the staff who have worked for 5-10 years.It is concluded tha Ministry of National Aducation has to work mor efor the education of the school canteen staff and it is ought to be done the health examination of the staff.
