The mediation effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between school principals' servant leadership behavior and teachers' level of compliance with the psychological contract

In this study, it was aimed to determine the mediating effect of school principals' servant leadership behaviors and job satisfaction on teachers' compliance with the school psychological contract. In this regard, in the spring term of the 2022-2023 academic year, 281 teachers working in official Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Anatolian High Schools, Vocational High Schools and Science High Schools throughout the province of Kütahya were reached and data were collected. The data in the study are collected via "Servant Leadership Behavior Scale of School Principals", the "Psychological Contract" scale and the "Minnesota the Job Satisfaction Survey " scale. In the study, T-test, analysis of variance (ANOVA) were used to determine the mediating effect of job satisfaction in the relationship between the servant leadership behaviors of school principals and the level of compliance with the psychological contract of teachers, and structural equation modeling was used to examine the mediation effect. The research shows that there is a moderate positive relationship between servant leadership behaviors and the level of compliance with the psychological contract. It is seen that there is a low positive relationship between the level of compliance with the organizational psychological contract and job satisfaction, and a weak-medium relationship between emotional commitment and the level of compliance with the organizational psychological contract. Research results show that psychological contract and servant leadership behavior positively affect job satisfaction and that this effect does not occur through job satisfaction.
