Examining the images of scientists in pre-school children

The objective of this research is to reveal the scientist images of pre-school children.The study was conducted by using "Basic Qualitative Research", one of the qualitative research approaches with the participation of 259 children in 60-66 months group in 5 independent kindergartens of the Ministry of National Education were studied in the 2018-2019 academic year in Kütahya. The data collection process of the study was carried out in 2 stages. In the first stage, 259 participants were selected according to convenience sampling. In the second stage, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 33 participants who were chosen according to the maximum diversity among the children who were drawing. Content analysis was used for data analysis. As a result of the research, it was seen that the scientist images of boys and girls were close to one another and similar images were obtained in the same class, that although findings close to the traditional image were found in the images of the children similar to the previous researches, there was a divergence from the traditional image and that an inclination to the technological products of our age was observed. The finding in the analyses of the thesis in our country that there is a limited study on the scientist image of pre-school children strengthens the belief that this study will contribute to the literature.
