The effects of family involved social skills training programme, which is prepared in accordance with the goals related to affective and social skills in pre-school education programme, on children's social skills' development

The purpose of this research is to support and develop the basic social skillsof preschool children by a with parent involved social skill programme with a parentinvolement approach.The research was conducted with 40 six years old preschool childrenattending kindergarten and their parents. The research was demonstrated as pre-posttest experimental design with experimental and control group. After experimentaland control groups determined, teachers in each group has filled Social SkillsEvaluation Scale and Psychological Observation Form for Preschool Children andparents were given Parents Involvement Scale and Personal Information Form. Thechildren in experimental group received ?Parents Involved Social Skill Instruction?consisting of 43 activities during eight weeks whereas the control group were treatednormally without any interference of their daily routine activities. At the end ofprogramme application, the same scales and forms were given to both groups as posttest and the gathered data were analysed and evaluated.At the end of the research:1. The results demontrate that the Parents Involvement Scalep pre and post-testscores of parents in Parents Involved Social Skills Programme has increasedsignificantly with respect to the parents in control group. The pre-test post-test scoresof each subscale determine a significant difference between the scores. The onlysignificant difference between the score of pre-test and post-test of the control groupparents were seen to be in School Based nvolement Subskale.2. Post-test scores of children in the experimental group were observed to increasesignificantly compared with post-test scores of children in control group regardingthe subscales of Interpersonal Relations, Verbal Explanation Skills, Listening Skillsand Self-Control Skills in The Social Skills Evaluation Scale. The pre-test post-testscores were observed to differ significantly for each subscale for the experimentalgroup. Moreover, when the pre-test post-test scores of the children in control groupwere analized it only significant difference is found in Self-Control Skills subscalewhereas there was no significant difference in other three subscales.3. The experimental group and conrol group regarding the subscale of PsychosocialDevelopment in The Psychological Observation Form for Preschool Children.
