The views of school administrators on waste and the measures they take

In this research, it is aimed to reveal the views of school administrators on educational waste and the measures they take to prevent waste from occurring. Qualitative research approach was adopted in the study and phenomenological (phenomenology) design was applied. Maximum diversity of purposeful sampling methods and criterion sampling methods were used in the formation of the working group. The study data were obtained using a semi-structured interview form. These data in question were analyzed with the content analysis technique. As a result of the study, it was revealed that school administrators define educational waste as inefficient use or inability to evaluate resources allocated for education, or unnecessary (unnecessary) spending. In addition, according to school administrators, items/subjects such as people, time, labor, money, buildings and tools are wasted in education. According to school administrators, factors such as problems related to planning, wrong decisions, inadequacies in in-service education, habits, managers' attitude, ostentation, lack of a sense of conscience, education provided in the family and system confusion cause waste in education. On the other hand, according to school administrators, the inability to raise people well, the wasting of public resources, the inability to employ people, the loss of time, monetary losses, spiritual losses, the destruction of hopes for the future and the increase in crime rates are the consequences of educational waste. In the research, it was revealed that the measures taken by school administrators for waste caused in their schools are related to the physical structure and use of the school, meeting school expenses, educational staff at the school and employees outside the educational staff, the use of teaching tools, student quota, students' participation in the educational process and students after graduation from school.
