A research proposal of an investigation into packing design and its affects on choice of food stuff of the children from preschool institutions

Abstract (EN)
This research has been done to reveal to what extend children attending pre school institutions are affected by packages when buying foodstuff. A total 150 volunteering subjects for this study were chosen from pre-school pupils, aged 4 to 6, and attending preschool institutions located in Ankara and in Sivrihisar town of Eskişehir province. The data was obtained by interviewing all the participant pupils individually. It has been observed that more than half of the children pay attention to illustration of the confectionary packages. While the difference was not significant between the groups in terms of difference of the areas, difference between the sexes has been found significant. It has also been observed that, for half of the children, illustrative contents of the packages were more effective in their choice of chocolate. When sex and residential areas are taken into consideration, the difference between the groups was not found important. More than half of the children taking part in this research said that they were more affected by the illustrative designs on the package of chewing gums. When the sexes and the distribution of residential areas are taken into consideration, the differences between the groups were not found significant. Most of the children taking part in this research were more affected by the illustrative designs on the packages of biscuits in their choices of biscuits. It was found out that the difference between the sexes was not significant, but the difference between the groups in terms of statistics was found significant. While most of the children taking part in this research were more affected desings on the packages of milk. When the sexes and the distribution of residential areas are taken into consideration, the difference between the groups was not found important.
