Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT In this study, oxidative polycondensation reaction conditions and the products of 2-hidroxy-l-naphtaldehyde with air oxygen sodium hypochloride and H2O2 were studied. NaOCl was observed to be more active than O2 and H2O2 and their optimum reaction conditions were determined. OHNA was synthesized from the oxidative polycondensation of HNA with air oxygen, H2O2, NaOCI in an aqueous alkaline medium between 50-95°C,the products were characterized by 'H-NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, elemental analysis and TGA. About 67% HNA was observed to be converted into OHNA. TGA analysis showed that the OHNA resistant to thermo-oxidative decomposition. The weight loss of OHNA were found to be % 38 at 500°C. New oligomeric Shiff-bases were synthesized from condensation of OHNA with aniline, /?-aminophenol and triethyleneglycol-6/.v-(4- aminophenyleter) and their the structures and properties were determined. Key words: Synthesis and characterization of oligo-2-hydroxy-l- naftaldehyde, oxidative polycondensation, oligomer-Schiff bases. II
