Abstract (EN)
This thesis comprises of a study of the investigation of general properties of Turkish olivin sand as a green moulding sand in metal casting production. The termogravimetric (TGA), diferansiyal termogravimetrik (DTG) and differential thermal (DTA) analysis of Olivin sand were carried out. Grain shape of olivine sand was observed metallographically. AFS standard sieve analysis of olivine sand was achieved in order to determine AFS grain fineness number and particles distribution. The various rate of Na bentonite (from 2% to 12%) and (from 4% to 7%) water were added into olivine sand to achive green compressive strength, permeability, surface hardness and flowability. The results indicated that olivine sand having 41 AFS grain fineness number with addition of 6% Na bentonite and 5% water can use as a green moulding sand in steel casting production.
