Abstract (EN)
In this study, ten stories of Ömer Seyfettin were examined from a thematic perspective. The thematic elements in these stories are clearly expressed in terms of their aims and methods under the influence of nationalism. Stories; event, person, space and time were debated. Due to domination of Nationalism, XX. throughout the century, national views were rapidly expanded in Balkans. This situation also affected the multinational Ottoman State. In this century in which the Turkism movement gained importance, with "New Language" article in language, literature and ideas, the nationalization process began. Ömer Seyfettin, as a writer, he used the national elements in his stories to guide society. In works, it's based on the Turkish people to have their own culture and be conscious of their culture. Ömer Seyfettin targeted creating a new human with this consciousness in works. Thus, in the stories, he presented an investigation in which a new society valuing national, self and nation-boasting.
