Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to determine the status of the fishing fleet in Ordu province, the characteristics of fishing vessels, the fishing gears used, the fish species caught and the current situation and problems of the fisheries cooperatives operating within the provincial borders. Data were obtained through face-to-face interviews with cooperative managers and fishermen using questionnaire forms prepared in accordance with the purpose of the research. As a result of the study, it was determined that 12 fisheries cooperatives operate in Ordu, the total number of members is 563 and 4 cooperatives are members of the Eastern Black Sea Cooperatives Union. The most important problems reported by all cooperatives were the lack of infrastructure and superstructure in the fishing ports, insufficient capacity of the fishing ports and shallowing due to sand accumulation. It was determined that 58.7% of the 150 fishing vessels examined in the study were 20-29 years old, 60% were in the length range of 5-7.99 m, and 66.67% were in the size range of 0-5 groston. Among the fishing gears used by the fishing boats, gill nets constituted the majority with 92.67%.
