Accumulation of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in liver, kidney, gill and muscle tissues in Oreochromis niloticus

Abstract (EN)

In this research, titanium accumulation in the kidney, liver, gill and muscle tissues of Oreochromis niloticus exposed to the effect of TiO2 NPs was examined. The fish were exposed to ambient concentrations of 5.0 and 25.0 mg/L TiO2 NP for 1, 7 and 14 days, and titanium accumulation in their tissues was detected with a Perkin Elmer Optima 2100 DV OES (Optical Emission Spectrometer). In this study, the accumulation of titanium in the tissues of fish exposed to the effect of TiO2 NP increased with the Ti concentration in the environment and the longer the exposure time. Titanium accumulation was highest in kidney tissue, followed by gill, liver and muscle tissue. It was determined that there were significant differences between tissues in terms of titanium accumulation at all times tested and that this was statistically significant. Likewise, it has been determined that there are significant statistical differences between concentrations when a particular tissue or organ is taken into account.
