Abstract (EN)

Today's mass production creates waste water inheriting chemicals which are harmful to environment. In our region, waste water produced by especially the textile industry is aimed to get purified with highest yield possible to be transferred to the common waste water plants. This thesis investigates treating the waste water arising from a plant. The basic approach is formed of testing the physico-chemical processes (coagulation-flocculation and active carbon adsorption), oxidation (ozonization), biological treatment (active sludge) and their combination through experiments. To achieve the highest yield and purification, the oil in the waste water is first distilled by phase separation and then was subject to methods such as chemical treatment (coagulation-flocculation), adsorption, oxidation and biological treatment. The experiments conducted on the balancing pond waste water resulted in a removal efficiency of %58 with (FeCl3) and % 40 with (alum) in chemical treatment; %81 with absorption, %39 with oxidation and %64 with biological treatment applied to the chemical treatment effluent. The experiments showed that a DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) system has to be integrated to the alternative plant to prevent the oil mixing to the waste water treatment facility. As a final step, adsorption and oxidation reactors shall be built following the chemical treatment plant. Key words: Ozone, coagulation-flocculation, adsorption, treatment
