Determination of physiographic characteristics of organic farming areas by remote sensing and linking with environmental lands

Abstract (EN)

Existing agricultural areas are used extensively due to the fast-growth o world population, increasing food need and decreasing agricultural areas. Chemicals intensely applied to the soil threaten the environment and the health of living things. Organic farming practices have become widespread as people prefer products that do not contain harmful chemicals and practices that are less harmful to nature. Organic agriculture is a production model that supports the use of chemicals in a zero or minimum way, targets a quality and healthy product, ensures the control of the product from flowering to packaging, and tries to keep environmental factors under control. Organic farming activities have increased in our country in recent years. The situation of these increasing activities in the plateau and coastal areas in Antalya province, their physiology and their relationship with the surrounding lands were analyzed. Elmali and Finike districts of Antalya province were selected as the study area. In these districts, agricultural enterprises with organic agriculture field certificates were examined and 5 different physiographic units were found out by using Remote Sensing and Geographical Information Systems. According to the data of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry for 2020, 596,074 da certified organic farming activities have been identified in Elmali. Found 77.60% of the organic farming areas are on the flat-flat lake bottom lands, 15.70% are in the flood plain lands close to the flat, and 6.70% are in the eroded undulating topographic lands on the lake bottom plains. It has been determined that there is no certified organic farming area in Finike district in 2020. When the organic agricultural lands of the district certified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2016 were examined, 286,619 organic farming areas were identified in the region, and it was determined that pomegranate and orange cultivation was carried out in these areas. 69.80% of the organic farming areas in the region are on very steep slope land, 17.65% on medium slope land, 6.75% on narrow-surfaced stream terraces, 5.10% on steep slope land,% It has been determined that 0.70 of them operate in foothill land. The relationship of the studied areas with the surrounding lands was interpreted, technical deficiencies not included in the legislation were evaluated, and solutions were offered.
