The effect of organizational culture on empowerment and turnover intention

Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, organizational culture and empowerment practice would make businesses gain considerable benefits, create competitive advantage and achieve their goals. Organizational culture reveals the necessity of applying empowerment in the tourism sector, where the individual element is very important. Because empowerment practices directs the behaviors of group members and affect the attitudes of individuals towards work. In this context, the aim of this study is to determine the effect of organizational culture type of hotel management on personnel empowerment practices and the relationship between organizational culture type and personnel empowerment influence the turnover intention. Within the scope of the survey, information was gathered through questionnaires on 300 people working in five star hotel enterprises in the Istanbul province of Europe. The obtained data were transferred to the computer environment and analyzed by factor, percentage and frequency analyzes and multiple regression and correlation analyzes via statistical package programs. The main results obtained from the research showed that hierarchical cultures have a negative relation with empowerment practices and whereas ruling, entrepreneurship, openness and developmental dimensions have a positive effect on personnel empowerment. There is no relationship between clan culture and personnel empowerment. On the other hand, it was concluded that rule culture, enterprising, openness, clan and development cultures have a negative influence on the turnover intention, and hierarchy culture has a positive influence on turnover intention.
