Abstract (EN)
The human factor cannot be ignored for organizations. Organizational commitment and job satisfaction have a major significance in business life. In this study, the relationship between organizational commitment and job satisfaction of Istanbul Fire Department employees was examined. Data collection tool of this research is survey. Meyer and Allen's Organizational Commitment Scale is implemented to determine the types and levels of organizational commitment of Istanbul Fire Department employees. The Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale is implemented to determine job satisfaction levels of employees. With the participation of 343 employees, it is determined that Istanbul Fire Department employees have normative, emotional and continuing commitment according to the literature. The differences in the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants at each type and level of commitment were examined and evaluated in detail. In consequence of the findings, although various factors affect the commitment of employees; demographic characteristics, age and occupational position of the occupational employees, job satisfaction and loyalty are mainly affected. As a result of the research, a meaningful relationship between job satisfaction level and organizational commitment level of firefighters was determined. As job satisfaction increases, organizational commitment increases.
