Consumer perception of recycling impregnated products in the forest industry: A case study of Gümüşhane province

Today, recycling has become a crucial aspect of sustainable development due to increasing environmental issues and the limited availability of natural resources. In this context, the recycling of impregnated wood products used in the forestry industry plays a vital role in reducing environmental impacts and conserving natural resources. However, consumer perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors significantly influence the success of recycling practices. This study aims to investigate consumer perceptions and attitudes toward the recycling of impregnated wood products in the context of Gümüşhane province. The research employs a face-to-face survey method, consisting of two sections: demographic characteristics and questions assessing consumers' knowledge levels, perceptions, and attitudes toward impregnated products and recycling. The findings reveal that consumers' environmental awareness significantly affects their knowledge and attitudes regarding the recycling of impregnated products. Furthermore, increasing awareness of recycling contributes positively to environmental sustainability efforts. The results of this study provide valuable insights for planning more effective recycling practices in the forestry industry and developing strategies to enhance consumer awareness. Additionally, it aims to fill gaps in the existing literature and contribute to the knowledge base on the recycling of impregnated products.
