Problems and solution recommendations on forest management certification applications (A Case Study of Kastamonu Forest Regional Directorate)

In this study, issues being revealed and tried to give solutions to the problems encountered in the certification process of the five departments of forestry connected to the Kastamonu Regional Directorate of Forestry, which were certified according to the FSC system. Problems have been obtained from the surveys, which were taken from the personnel in units and the reports of FSC organizations' certified companies. The problems encountered in the certification process were dived into three categories; Public, Regional, and stakeholder related. As a result, in order to fully implement the international conventions, which are the origin of the certifications, it is required to ensure the continuity of training for both public officials and stakeholders. In addition to these, Stakeholders active participation and integration of global requirements as well as making forestry management plan and territorial implementation should be supported. It is thought that the compliance to the process will be increased by increasing the forestry involved stakeholders' income with micro development plans in different areas.
