Abstract (EN)

After the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), Russia continued to maintain its influence in the region and developed strong ties with the Central Asian states that have a strategic position in the wide Eurasian region. The stable presence and strategic goals of the Russian Federation in the region pose significant obstacles for the Central Asian Turkic republics. This study examines the complex dynamics of international relations in Central Asia and focuses specifically on the policies adopted by the Central Asian Turkish states to reduce the influence of the Russian Federation. The thesis begins by examining the concept of spheres of influence in international relations in order to provide a theoretical framework for understanding current dynamics. Then, the significant impact of the Russian Federation on the Central Asian Turkish states is examined by taking into account its historical, economic and political dimensions. The thesis then explores the various strategies these states used to reduce their dependence on Russian influence. These strategies include economic diversification, regional alliances and diplomatic maneuvers.
