Abstract (EN)

AISI 1030 medium carbon steels which have a sufficient strength and ductility used in the production of machine parts. This steel is cheap and it?s possible to produce very valuable machine elements of them with appropriate heat treatment processes. The wear and corrosion resistance of an unalloyed AISI 1030 steel is very low and insufficient. Increase the useful life and upgrade corrosion and especially its abrasion resistance of such steels, surface hardening or surface coating operations must apply. In this study; the surfaces of work pieces which prepared from AISI 1030 steel were coated by electric arc welding technique by use an electrode containing chromium. Then, the microstructure, and also hardness and wear properties of these coated materials depending on the occurred structure were investigated experimentally by SEM and EDS analysis techniques.
